What is SiteBuilder 3.0?

SiteBuilder 3.0 is the latest version of our Website design and publishing tool. It's a browser-based application that includes up to 250 templates, simple menu-driven administration and customization options, and multiple interactive Web tools. No HTML knowledge is required; you only need to select from the available options and provide the appropriate text and images.

Who can use it?

Any customer with a hosting plan can use it. In the near future, Domain Name Only customers will also have access to SiteBuilder 3.0 (with one page).

How do I access it?

To access SiteBuilder 3.0, log in to SiteControl and click Website Tool. Next, click Build Your Web Site with Hostway's SiteBuilder.

What's the cost and feature difference between SiteBuilder 3.0, SiteBuilder 3.0 Plus and SiteBuilder 3.0 Premier?

We offer three levels of SiteBuilder 3.0 for hosting customers on any platform. The difference is in the number of pages permitted, templates available, and Extras Web tools offered.

1) Every customer gets SiteBuilder Basic.

2) If you want a more robust site that includes advanced features, you have the choice of easily upgrading to a more advanced version of SiteBuilder. With the SiteBuilder Plus Plan, you will enjoy the following, and much more, for only $9.95 per month:

  • 100 different preformatted templates
  • An unlimited number of site pages
  • Photo album and guest book functions

Or choose SiteBuilder Premier, which includes 250 different preformatted templates, an unlimited number of site pages, photo album and database functions and much more for only $14.95 per month.

How do I upgrade to Plus or Premier?

To upgrade, log in to SiteControl and click Website Tool. Next, click Build Your Web Site with Hostway's SiteBuilder. Click the appropriate Upgrade link.

Why do I have to enable pop-up windows in my browser to use SiteBuilder 3.0?

SiteBuilder 3.0 must launch a pop-up window in order to create and administer the Web site. If you have enabled pop-up blocker in your browser, then it will prompt you to add the current domain (the domain used by SiteBuilder 3.0) to the list of safe domains. For further instructions, please refer to your browser's manual.

Can I use any browser?

You can use any browser to view the Website created using SiteBuilder 3.0. However, when editing the site we recommend using Internet Explorer version 5.5 or later. Although you can use non-IE browsers to edit, you may notice the absence of a few editing options. If you prefer not to use IE, then we suggest comparing the editing options in IE versus non-IE browsers as they may not be needed for your use.

Do extras like Guestbook and Photo Album count towards the number of pages allotted to my plan?

Yes, all extras features that generate a page (and therefore visible on the Web site) do count towards page allotment. For example, the Guestbook generates two pages and therefore counts two pages towards your allotment.

What's the difference between the Maps and Routing extras?

The Maps feature displays the map of one single address (presumably the address of your home or business), whereas the Routing feature not only displays the map of your home/business but also prompts visitors to enter their own address and provides driving directions.

I know SiteBuilder 3.0 permits meta-tags (and search engine optimization), but where can I learn more about their use?

There are many sources on the Web to learn about Meta-tags and Search Engine Optimization. Try here and here for some examples.

Can I import any type of database?

You can import any database so long as it is in CSV (comma separated value) format. Your database application should be able to export in many formats, including CSV. Please refer to its instructions for further assistance.

Please keep in mind that the database feature is only available at the Premier level. To upgrade, click here.

Where can I find the manual for SiteBuilder 3.0?

In the SiteBuilder 3.0 application itself, click Help at any point.
